Sparing the False, Spoiling the Faithful

What has Melvin Otey been up to?

What happened when a soldier allowed his prisoner to escape? Acts 12:19 shows they were put to death:

Acts 12:19 - "And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode."

What happened when a King of Israel allowed his enemy escape? 1 Kings 20:38-42 says that even a king is punished:

1 Kings 20:38-42 - "So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face. And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver. And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it. And he hasted, and took the ashes away from his face; and the king of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets. And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of thy hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people. "

What happens when “sound preachers” refuse to correct false teachers in today’s world? They get invited to Polishing the Pulpit. Why does Melvin Otey get to “share the pulpit” with so many false teachers and still receive an invitation to Polishing the Pulpit?

With which false teachers has Melvin Otey shared the pulpit?:

F. LaGard Smith, Tim Pyles, and Jacob Hawk.  (see below)

Quotable Quotes from Fellowship Notes:

“Some elders fail to keep themselves informed on what is going on in the brotherhood. Therefore, they are caught unaware of what a preacher or teacher might be trying to promote. Many times these false teachers have done irreparable harm before the eldership is alerted. All elders need to take good publications which are ‘in the know’ on what is going on in the brotherhood.
